The functions of the digestive system are: ingestion, digestion, absorption, and excretion. Ingestion is the process of taking in food. Digestion is the breaking down of food. Absorption is the process of getting nutrients into the blood stream. Excretion is the proess of getting rid of indigestible waste.
Our digestive system keeps us in homeostasisby providing the blood with the nutrients that it needs to feed all of the cells in our body.it removes harmful metabolic wastes from the body, and fluid balance.
